This week in Math
Students began work with Ratios and Proportions. This theme will take us to the end of the marking period. We specifically targeted ratios and unit rates this week. Next week we will move on to solving ratios and rates using tables and double number lines. The students enjoyed the "Skittles" activity in which they were able to eat their skittles after finding all the many ratios in their little bag.
This week in Science
We continued our unit on matter and the properties of matter. Students spent time investigating the Periodic Table of elements and the properties that make each group and period unique. They learned about metals/non-metals, gases, liquids, solids, and radioactive elements. Next week we will be looking at physical and chemical properties of matter.
